Trio In Contention for Young Athlete of the Year Honour

English soccer star Michelle Agyemang, darts sensation Luke Littler and cricketer Davina Perrin have been selected as contenders for the this year's Young Sports Star of the Year award.
These three athletes have been recognised for their remarkable achievements over the last year.
Agyemang helped the Lionesses secure Euro 2025, Littler claimed the world title for the very first time, and Perrin burst onto the scene with a unprecedented innings.
Littler was the recipient in 2024 after his sensational debut year.
The finalists were unveiled on a national radio breakfast show.
The 2025 recipient will be announced during a live broadcast on the Sports Personality of the Year show on Thursday, 18 December.
The show will be televised from seven in the evening GMT.
Michelle Agyemang
Age: 19 Sport: Football
Just three months after her first cap for her country, Agyemang played a dramatic and decisive role in England's run to European Championship victory.
She was introduced as a substitute to score vital last-gasp goals in both the quarter-final and semi-final.
Agyemang's stunning interventions led to her being named Young Player of the Tournament.
Subsequently, she was awarded the Golden Girl award for the finest emerging star on the continent.
She was also in contention for the Kopa Trophy for the world's best under-21 female player.
Agyemang, who has been playing for Brighton on loan from Arsenal, ruptured her anterior cruciate ligament in October.
"Being nominated for this honour is incredible," said Agyemang. "Thank you to God and I'm grateful for the support I've received from my loved ones, mentors, colleagues and supporters."
Luke Littler
Age: 18 Sport: Darts
Littler's 2025 began in spectacular fashion as - at just 17 years old - he became the most youthful world title winner in history.
He secured a commanding win over Michael van Gerwen in the final.
His follow-up triumph at the World Matchplay made him only the fifth individual to complete the prestigious triple crown of major titles.
His success continued - his win in November's Grand Slam of Darts meant he ascended to world number one for the maiden occasion.
At 18, he is the most youthful player to do so, breaking the previous record.
"Earning a spot on the shortlist for this award again is a massive accolade," stated Littler. "Last year's win was a proud moment for me and I've had another amazing 12 months. I want to continue raising the profile of darts."
Davina Perrin
Age: 19 Sport: Cricket
Perrin is one of English cricket's most exciting young talents and rose to fame with an unbelievable and unprecedented innings in August.
Her magnificent 42-ball century in The Hundred is the quickest ever by an English female in T20s.
It also stands as the joint third-fastest women's T20 century in a top-tier competition.
Perrin finished second in the season's run tally and was named the Professional Cricketers' Association's top young women's player.
"I'm truly honoured to be named a finalist for the Young Sports Star award," expressed Perrin. "This is phenomenal. I hope it encourages more young females to get into cricket."
