England's Coach Tim Southee Unsure on The Ashes Availability
Tim Southee's most recent Test for New Zealand was versus England in the final month of 2024.
England's bowling consultant Southee is currently evaluating what his involvement will be during the upcoming Ashes series in Australia.
The former Kiwi seamer is expected to be present for the first Test because of his participation in the International League T20 competition, which begins on 2 December in the United Arab Emirates.
Southee, aged 36, took up a position as the English team's fast bowling consultant in the summer after taking 391 scalps in 107 Test matches for New Zealand.
Speaking as the English team for the opening of three T20 matches against the Kiwis was announced, he stated of his availability: "We are still evaluating the situation at the moment.
"We'll see the outcome over the next little while."
England bowling legend Broad had declared the Australian side as their "weakest squad since 2010", but the consultant was in no uncertainty over what to expect during the contest, which begins on November 21.
"I don't think there's at any time a poor Australian cricket team," Southee said.
"The team's attention is squarely on what we're trying to do. In my opinion the quality of [England's] team that's heading out to the host country is brilliant.
"It should be an absolute cracker, that series. Not just [are|do] fans from both nations looking forward to it, I believe the entire cricketing community is."
However, before England travel to the city of Perth for the first Ashes match, they face the Kiwis in Christchurch on Saturday.
