19 of the Russian's 21 championships have been achieved on hard courts

A comeback the Russian player secured his first trophy for nearly 30 months with success over Corentin Moutet in the competition final.

The Russian, a former number one, has endured a difficult period, winning just one win at the major tournaments and undergoing a meltdown at the US Open.

Medvedev's varied form on the professional circuit - and struggles with his service game in especial - led to him dropping out of the top ten and ultimately splitting with long-time mentor his previous coach.

Presently working with Johansson and Rohan Goetzke, Medvedev has gradually progressed in the past month - culminating in a closely contested three-set triumph over Frenchman Moutet.

It is Medvedev's maiden title since the Italian tournament and initial on a hard surface after March of 2023.

Victory also indicates he has secured 21 victories at twenty-one different competitions.

"It's the first time I have attended a competition with my children together, so to get a title is particularly special," said tennis professional the champion.

"This title is in dedication of my younger daughter her name, because the initial championship I got when my first daughter Alisa was born was for her."

The athlete, the 2021 US Open champion, had been defeated in his previous six title deciders, comprising in the German tournament earlier this year.

The player's counter-punching strategy and regular emotional displays on the playing surface had led commentators to wonder if his ability to compete at the elite level was concluded.

However the 29-year-old has implemented adjustments in recent weeks, attempting to come to the net and play assertively, backed up by an improved serving game.

Medvedev came back from a break down in the opening set against the difficult opponent, winning four of the last five exchanges to take the lead.

The competitors exchanged service breaks in the second set before Moutet, bidding for his first tour championship, gained dominance to create a decider.

Moutet rescued four early break points in a close deciding set before Medvedev won the break to fifteen to secure the win.

Fittingly, the winner secured the win with a rally at the net, with the Frenchman incapable to control a return after two hours and 38 minutes.
