Both Deceased Students Named in Brown University Shooting as Police Continue Search for Perpetrator.

Two students who lost their lives in the weekend's mass shooting at Brown University were honored at the start of the week – amid a widespread hunt for their shooter continued following the freeing by authorities in Rhode Island of the sole person questioned in the case.

Tributes for Ella Cook

The student Ella Cook, a sophomore from Alabama, was called “a wonderful, steady, devout, shining presence”, per the Advent Cathedral in Birmingham, which offered condolences for her at a gathering on Sunday.

Cook was vice-president of Brown’s division of the campus GOP group, the group said. The White House press secretary also shared words of sorrow publicly, remarking: “Words cannot express. Keeping in mind her loved ones and companions, above all her mom and dad.”

The Second Victim

The second fatality was MukhammadAziz Umurzokov, a citizen of Uzbekistan in his initial year at the Ivy League university, his family confirmed.

His name was officially acknowledged by the Uzbek Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

“He was incredibly kind, funny, and smart. His ambitions were lofty of pursuing a career in neurosurgery and assisting patients,” Samira Umurzokova, his sister said in a tribute.

Details of the Attack

Nine more persons were wounded in the violent event in the school of engineering of Brown’s grounds in Providence, during the institution's end-of-term tests.

Law enforcement reported by the end of Sunday that a 24-year-old male taken into custody in a raid at a hotel about approximately 17 miles from the university earlier in the day was released from custody.

“There is a killer at large,” declared Peter Neronha, Peter Neronha.

Neronha explained, “Occasionally a probe goes down a path, and then you must reassess and pursue a different angle, and this is precisely what occurred over the last day or so.”

Community Anxiety

Brett Smiley, Brett Smiley, acknowledged: “We know that this is likely to cause renewed concern for our community”.

The gunman opened fire inside a room in the engineering building on Saturday, discharging in excess of 40 shots from a handgun, a authority told the Associated Press.

Officers that raided the lodging found two firearms and two ammunition clips when the person of interest was taken into custody, according to reports.

Condition of the Injured

The US ambassador, Jonathan Henick, said he was “deeply saddened” by the student's death in a statement. “We extend our sincere condolences to the Umurzokov family, friends, and schoolmates and mourn the loss of his promising future.”
